Upcoming Information

There will be a meeting Wednesday March 19th, 2014 after school in the library -- or the commons if that's full. Please attend this meeting as it is very important for our next campaign and will be very important for the future of the chapter. I've worked hard to put together material, and you should work hard to be there. If you can't, please give a valid reason and I will get you the information that you need if you approach me. Otherwise, I'm going to assume that you don't want to be involved with Accio Books!. Please try to clear your schedules for this meeting.

I know some of you may not have seen the announcement, even though I posted it awhile ago, but now you are seeing it. So I expect you to be at this meeting or at next weeks meeting. Next week (I know, spring break) will be on Tuesday the 25th of March at Western District Library in Orion at about 2 PM. I will be confirming this with everyone at our upcoming (19th) meeting. Times are subject to change. But overall, we need to get ready and April is coming in fast.

I'm really sorry to have to schedule a meeting during spring break, but this is extremely important.

Additionally, we will need to have a Pre-Accio Books! kickoff party where we will make signs, assemble/decorate boxes, get envelopes ready, get chapter interest things ready, and more. There will also be food involved. We will discuss a location at our upcoming (19th) meeting, but this even will take place on either Friday March 28th or Saturday March 29th, 2014. This will be a valuable resource for us that will hopefully create chapter unity in the process. At the upcoming meeting we will discuss which date is better for all of us.

Lastly, make sure to attend Darby's book club meeting Tuesday March 18th, 2014 after school at Kershaw's room. There will be cookies and you'll learn more about what she has planned for this great literacy opportunity.

PS I would also like to add that I'm going to have my wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday March 26th, so this may interfere with some things. I'm not sure how up to anything I'll be feeling by Friday/Saturday, but this party still needs to happen before April, whether or not I can attend. I'm going to try my hardest to work everything out, but it's just a crazy business that you can't predict. Thank you again for your patience.

Next Meeting

Our next scheduled meeting will be this coming week. It will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after school in either the library or the commons (if the library has something happening, we'll go to the commons).

At this meeting, we will be discussing the upcoming Accio Books! project. This starts in April and is one of our biggest focuses. I'd also like to talk about chapter elections. I want to have anyone who is wishing to be chapter organizer go through the process of organizing Accio Books! with me, and we can educate on chapter issues and how to talk to businesses around the town.

Additionally, Darby will be holding a book club meeting sometime next week too. I'm not sure what day it will be yet, but it will be an informational meeting that will help get this show on the road. Once I have information, I'll let you all know what's happening. There should also be signs going up around the school.

Lastly, within the next week I'm going to call Augustana about possibly watching a Quidditch practice/match at their school and getting some tips on how to start up our own at Orion High School. This is a goal for next year along with Yule Ball and Valentines.

MEETING CALLED

At this point, I'm extremely disappointed in all of you, other than Darby, for not simply commenting on the discussion boards on either the blog or schoology. It's really not that hard, it will take you about two minutes, and it's disrespectful to me, Mrs. Swanson, and this club that we can't take the time to further the agenda of this club.

A meeting will be called due to the lack of activity on either of these boards. 

URGENT: book club discussion

Okay ladies and gentleman,

We have sat on this long enough. If we don't get moving on book club, we're going to have to cancel it. I'm sure none of us want to do that, and I can't imagine that our chapter would want to deprive ourselves of a goal which we set in the beginning. 

Here's a list of things we need to get done immediately:

• Call Western District Library and set up a time each week/month (whatever we said) we could come in and have our meetings
• Pick a solid day (did we decide wednesday?) and time (did we decide 6 pm?) for meetings
• Make a tri-fold and talk to Mr. DeBaillie about having a table in the commons for a day or two--who would be willing to make the tri-fold and who would be willing to man the table during lunch hours A and B?
• Have an initial meeting--make handouts for the meeting and/or a presentation
• If there's anything else you can think of, please add it either here or on the identical discussion post on the blog.

PICK ONE OR BOTH AND DISCUSS

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is fast approaching (10 days!), and we decided we weren't going to do anything for it. But, here's an idea for everyone:

What if we either created (by paper and marker) or printed out valentines for everyone in the school and put them in/on their lockers?

This could be a good way to promote our mission statement which says to "spread the magic of love." I feel like Valentine's Day could be a huge holiday for us to promote chapter values and membership.

The magic of love is that we can spread it to others, and this is our chance to do so! I will discuss this further at the meeting today after school, but I would like some discussion in the comments, if possible, on ideas of how to do this. 

I think each valentine should say a catchy phrase involving part of our motto (weapon we have is love/spread magic of love). 

Please discuss in the comments and let's make this valentine's a great one for love and chapter awareness!!

MEETING TOMORROW

Meeting tomorrow after school in the library!

I've already reminded you all of this, but here's another one.

It will be pretty short and we will discuss book club, semester projects, officer elections, and outlook for the year.

Book Club Results

While everyone has not voted, it seems that this is everyone who plans on voting. With this in mind, here are the results for who will be leading future meetings of book club.
